Those Sleeves!

I know. The same checked blazer has been everywhere, on everyone. “Me too” clothes. I didn’t even want one until I saw these amazing sleeves. OK. So they’re not practical for work because they’re kinda huge and get in the way, but so much fun for going out! I went with a velvet tank underneath because I’m notoriously hot in restaurants and paired with boyfriend jeans and loafers for an upscale casual vibe.

The new jewellery is my anniversary gift from my hubby and I love it! Swarovski crystal for our crystal anniversary. It’s so beautiful and I can see wearing it with really dressy outfits too! Enjoy!

Pole Dancing

So this top made me feel part ballerina, part Madonna circa 1980 something. Either way — so much fun! I styled it with uneven hem, ripped knee jeans. Both are trends that are very on point (pun kind of intended) and somehow work together perfectly. Mixing too many trends in one outfit can completely backfire. You never want to look like you’re trying too hard to accomplish it all at once and trends should only be considered if they actually work for you. Trying to pull off a trend that’s out of your comfort zone will just leave you with buyer’s remorse as you gaze at a closet full of “why did I buy this?” items. It’s better to leave the house feeling confident than in an outfit that makes you self-conscious and fidgety. For me it’s edgy BOHO. (Closet full of Free People anyone?) Skinny bottoms and oversized tops are basics in my world styled in different ways to fit the mood or occasion. People ask me why I don’t show off how small I am with form-fitting clothes. The answer? It’s just not me. What are your go to outfits?

Spring Chill

Not gonna lie. I love a chilly spring day especially after the rest of the week was in the 90s. Yucky. Love the prospect of wearing a chunky spring sweater and an awesome pair of jeans and I’m embracing it fully while I still can without melting. I managed to incorporate a few trends into this outfit without it looking like I was trying too hard. Never look like you’re trying too hard! I half-tucked my chunky sweater with cool sleeves into my moto jeans to show off the zipper details. Check out the ripped knee and distressed bottoms. Cool right? If you’re looking for the most comfortable jeans ever give DL1961 a shot. I swear they’re as comfortable as leggings! Last but not least — mules. Any shoe you can remove in a matter of seconds is a winner in my book! I own these in 3 colours! Shhhhhh! Oh! Don’t forget to accessorize girlies! Jewellery and sunglasses make an outfit!

How to Survive (Fashionably) this Winter Season

There is beauty in winter, with the first snowflakes, the ice skating opportunity, houses covered in snow and the romance that could bloom this season.

Of course, with the changing of the season comes a different set of fashion rules and guidelines. And to help you survive the cold without looking frumpy, let me share to you my top 10 rules for winter dressing.

Rule #1 – Sleeves all the way

Everything should have sleeves. It’s really cold out there, you know? Sweaters are perfect for this since they provide comfort and warmth.  But besides that, sweaters can add life and colour to your bland winter ensembles because, as you know, they come in a different designs, prints, sizes and colors. No matter what design you choose, sweaters can add oomph to your outfit. So if you prefer something oversized as opposed to those with snug fit, don’t worry because you can still look stylish in them. All you have to do is just learn how to wear slouchy sweater.

Rule #2 — It’s all about the scarves

Although initially, they’re designed for additional protection, they’re now considered essential winter fashion pieces. Just learn the different ways to tie scarf and you’ll be on your merry way looking chic as ever. It’s as if winter is made just for you.

Rule #3 — The shoe queen

Although boots are an obvious choice for the snowy season, don’t limit yourself to them only. Ballet flats, pumps and even sandals can be worn in the winter. Just let your creativity flow and you’ll find lots of ways to keep your feet from freezing.

Rule #4 — The coat of love

Why blend when you can stand out? While neutral shades, like black and grey, are a safe choice this winter, it doesn’t mean you have to conform to the norms. Choose the brightest, baddest, and most stylish coat you can find, and you’re sure to make winter one heck of a fashionable season.

Rule #6 — My sweet Beanie

Winters and beanies definitely go together. And not just because they keep your pretty head from freezing but can also be the perfect accessories to your outfits.

Rule #7 — Red, hot, candy-licious

Stand out in sea of white, gray and black by wearing something red. Red coat, red top, red dress — red whatever!

Rule #8 — Dress to impress

Don’t just choose an ordinary dress. Go for a knitted sweater dress.  How cozy is that?

Rule #9 — Capes of Stylishness

Add a little drama to your outfits, be it casual or formal, by wearing capes instead of the usual coats and cardigans.
