Is there such thing as too much leather? Nope. Don’t think so. I actually didn’t even realize that I was mixing so many leathers. Luckily it worked. Leather pants, leather jacket, leather shoes… Huh. I’ve seen the dress over pants thing done so many ways but they always tend to come off looking a little conservative for me. This pairing included J Brand stretch leather pants and an amazing animal print Elizabeth and James shirtdress. The chilly Northeast made me throw a leather jacket over my shoulders for nighttime warmth. Sleeve use — optional.

Sorry for the absence. Sometimes life just gets in the way! Anyhoo… the jeans — the trendy splatter paint. My husband said he could have done this on his own but I found them at TJ Maxx and they were such a steal that I couldn’t resist. I’ve never owned Paige Premium jeans before but they’re super soft. More please! I love the super cool zipper detail so I utilized the nonchalant “half-tuck” to show it off. To chic them up a little for nighttime a flowing black top from BCBG and black open toe booties did the trick. Yup. It’s that time of year again. Not my favourite as I prefer the chill of winter, but unavoidable nonetheless. My little Lubi was looking particularly dashing so he got to share the spotlight today. Isn’t he adorable?

I’m back in black and biker boots! Woohoo! So have I told you I like fall? I haven’t had a new piece from All Saints in quite some time so when mum and dad arrived home from Scotland with this top I was psyched. I love their oversized flowy clothes. The woman in the store recommended to my mum that I wear it with coated jeans. Coated jeans are a wardrobe staple in my book. Of course the black are perhaps the chicest thing on the planet, but I own them in other colours too. I went all out today and wore my new studded biker boots too. I was so excited about the fall air that I dove right in. I feel like me! There’s no turning back now!

Really, it’s OK to wear black in the summer. It may not be the brightest (literally and figuratively) choice on a scorching hot day, but for a night out when it’s not too balmy, why not? Black is always chic and black and gold, even better. You know I’m a fan. I couldn’t resist this top when I saw it at Nordstrom on sale in the Savvy Department. Black, shiny, fringes — a perfect trifecta? Those fringes make it not seem cropped too. Yeah! Of course I picked shiny black and gold accessories and my favourite Italia Independent sunglasses. They were the first ones I got from that company and I still absolutely love them! They’re actually flocked velvet and they’re so light and comfortable that you don’t even know they’re on your face! Do you still wear black in the summer?

I know. It’s been a while. Sorry about that. I had to take some time to recover from my most recent surgery. After almost a year since my breast cancer diagnosis I’m ready to introduce you to the new girls. I finally have my permanent implants and after seeing 27 doctors (OK, slight exaggeration) this week, it looks as if I’m healthy! It’s also so much easier to get dressed! While I’m not completely done, I’m hoping the worst is behind me and I can start to get my life back.
This outfit has a couple trends encompassed within. A crop top and boyfriend jeans. I have to admit that the crop top trend sent shivers down my spine. Really? I’m not one to walk around half naked! Done properly, or at least what I deem to be appropriately, I’ve found that it can actually be cute. This top, for example sticks with my whole “flowy” personality and barely shows any midriff unless you catch a breeze. Even then, only the slightest sliver of skin pops out. Perfect! I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect loose, comfy boyfriend jeans for a while. Believe it or not — Gap! Haven’t been in there in ages, but I’m so in love with these. The looseness and the shredding is also a much cooler (literally, as in temperature) option for summer. Buy them a size too big for extra effect.

I swore I would never wear Birkenstocks. They’re hippie shoes. I’m not a hippie. I lied! I kept seeing them on people and thinking — not gonna happen! Well… it happened. It actually happened more than once, as you’ll soon see, but these are the first ones I’m sharing with all of you. Of course I had to be just a little bit different. I went for the shiny black patent ones. They were actually really hard to find, especially in my little size! The rest of the outfit is from Zara. I can’t believe I was so slow getting on that wagon. Figures that the only store remotely near me is now closed for renovations for about 3 months. Now what?

I really have no idea who Lola is, but it’s a great little Latin Bistro by us with a very pretty fire pit outside. It’s not always possible to get in, so when they had space at the last minute we dashed out the door. I had a lousy week which means I went shopping this weekend. Everything is on sale now. Time to buy those boots and coats you’ve been coveting!
Black and gold is such a fabulous combination. It looks rich and put together no matter what you do. I saw this jacket and it was on sale for less than a third the regular price. It’s not like I don’t own a leather jacket, I just don’t own one like this! Then I couldn’t resist boots with matching gold studs. Too cool. Keeping the trend moving I put on a bunch of black and gold studded jewellery, a gold top and my favourite J Brand coated skinny black jeans.

Gold Top – All Saints (Last Year)
Coated Skinny Jeans – J Brand (Saks Fifth Avenue, Last Year)
