Sheepish

Ever walk through a store and something just catches your eye and you know you have to have it? This shaggy sweater vest which reminds me of a sheep had my name written all over it! Of course the tunic I’m wearing underneath was hanging next to it and it went too perfectly to just leave hanging there. Story of my life — shopaholic blogger problems. I decided to stick with a neutral grey palate throughout which included these amazing coated/waxed AG pants (if I ever see them in the store again I will buy an extra!), and my grey suede Prada wedge boots which give you height but are totally comfortable for walking. Important today because in a moment of grace earlier on I drove my knee straight into the corner of the coffee table and it’s not moving so well at the moment. I figured wedges were a safer bet than heels. Good thing it’s not summer or you may have all had to see the pretty bruise! I’m thinking of replacing all of our square furniture with round items so as not to have dangerous corners!

All Grown Up

A family friend always teases me when I’m gussied up that I look like I’m all grown up. Who? Me? Here’s the dress, tights, pumps, clutch — all the workings of a grown up outfit. The bell sleeves really sold me on this dress. It felt so mod and fun to wear. I’m not usually one to wear green because my skin tone actually makes me a green person, but this jewel tone really worked. I bit the bullet and put on a pair of tights too. Those seams that go across your toes drive me nuts for the most part but I have to admit that these DKNY ones are really soft and quite comfortable. Your feet also slip around less in your shoes when you’re barefoot, but sometimes you just have to do it. And how about this clutch? I couldn’t resist!

Fall For It

The second the temperature drops the tiniest little bit I get completely psyched for fall. I feel more like myself in dark colours and boots. I started out getting dressed this evening in much lighter coloured garb. I couldn’t do it. I kept looking in the mirror and wondering who was staring back at me. I’ve realized that you should stay true to who you are — doesn’t only apply to outfits. If you’re not comfortable in an outfit don’t wear it out. More importantly, don’t buy it. Only spend your money on pieces that call to you and make you feel awesome!

Let It Flow

So I’m walking through the Savvy Department at Nordstrom and this little number catches my eye. It’s from the Kate Moss for Topshop collection and it was more than half off. Then one of the sales associates who knows me by name at this point told me it would photograph well. Evil I tell you. It was just so “me”.  It had to be paired with cool boho-ish jewellery too. I could picture it. It’s going to go so well with my leather pants when the temperature drops enough to wear them! Very excited for that BTW. This summer thing — not a fan.

Petal Pusher

I’m doing a pretty good job of this colour thing! Though this dress was also available in black, I chose to buy it in pink. It was being worn to a communion with a luncheon afterward, so I decided that for daytime it should be something colourful, pretty and soft. I’m not usually a “dress” girl. I don’t find them creative enough. Once you’ve worn it that’s it. No other way to style it really. I do see their place in the world though. Sometimes you just need that look. The Rubik’s Cube bag is from this super fun store in Italy called Carpisa. I’ve had it forever but I still get so many compliments every time I use it. Cute right?

Show Me Your Baby Blues

My outfit was inspired by these amazing baby blue ankle boots I found at DSW. The colour screamed “boots you can wear in spring!” They’re Crown Vintage which is a brand exclusive to DSW, as far as I can tell, and I’ve found it to be both very comfortable and well made. The tank I got last year right before my surgery. I didn’t realize at the time that my post mastectomy self would not lend well to tank tops. I held it up next to my new boots and voila — a match made in heaven. The weather was incredibly blustery so layering was essential. Jean jackets seem to have made their way back into the fashion world as of late and this one is actually kind of special. It’s an old Levi’s jacket that was my brother’s in high school. I stole it and kept it. Sorry dude! There’s even a little “signature” rip by the cuff that always told us it was ours.

Plaid And A Pineapple

Plaid And A Pineapple

I think I was in a plaid mood when I went shopping. Maybe I’m channeling my quarter of Scottish heritage. I couldn’t resist this cute little top with the buttons down the back. Being that I’m still kind of in post mastectomy hiding this shirt had a lot of redeeming features. While it has some sheerness the body of the top is solid and has a pattern. Patterns are distracting. If you’re trying to cover something up, go with a pattern that will draw attention away from specifics and areas you aren’t particularly fond of. The top and jeans came from my Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale outing. I think I’m addicted to the Savvy Department! Oh, and these are my first pair of Jeffrey Campbell shoes! Love them!
