Fringes are huge right now in the trend department. Were they ever out? Boho essential no? I love to spin around and watch them fly around. So silly. Like they weren’t enough fun on their own I wore the cardigan over this super fun Free People slip dress styled as a top over pants. There’s so much going on in this outfit! The florals, lace, fringes… Too much? Nah. Why? Because the consistent colour pallet gives it balance and softness.

Ever walk through a store and something just catches your eye and you know you have to have it? This shaggy sweater vest which reminds me of a sheep had my name written all over it! Of course the tunic I’m wearing underneath was hanging next to it and it went too perfectly to just leave hanging there. Story of my life — shopaholic blogger problems. I decided to stick with a neutral grey palate throughout which included these amazing coated/waxed AG pants (if I ever see them in the store again I will buy an extra!), and my grey suede Prada wedge boots which give you height but are totally comfortable for walking. Important today because in a moment of grace earlier on I drove my knee straight into the corner of the coffee table and it’s not moving so well at the moment. I figured wedges were a safer bet than heels. Good thing it’s not summer or you may have all had to see the pretty bruise! I’m thinking of replacing all of our square furniture with round items so as not to have dangerous corners!

It’s that time of year. Everything is in bloom. I have to admit — it’s pretty. My allergies, however, not so pretty. I’ll try to admire the flora from afar. Per usual I paired everything with black. Northeastern girl — can’t help it even in spring. Black, black, black. I even consciously tell myself not to buy black when I go to the store, but I can’t help it! It’s classy and goes with everything and there’s just so much of it! I dug this blazer out of my closet after quite a long time. Unlike the usual suspect it’s soft and flowy and shiny. My new watch and my Chuck Chucks bracelet went perfectly with my new blouse. Actually, my velvet sunglasses went too. Go me! It’s almost warm enough that I’ll have to give up my booties soon so I have to get every single use out of them that I can. I so miss them in summer. I was in quite the Marc by Marc Jacobs mood today. You’ll see.

Saturday night in the city! Dinner and then off to the Oliver Peoples party at the Gramercy Park Hotel. An Oliver Peoples event means cool people, great libations and there is always tons of dancing. Fab! You’ve seen me wear their sunglasses right? They’re amazing. The only thing that could have been better was the weather. It poured! Thankfully the rooftop terrace has a retractable roof. It felt like we were outside, but we remained dry. Good thing! This is one of New York City’s funky boutique hotels so I went with a chic, drape front trench “jacket” over not-so-basic black. I am the queen of flowy! Coincidentally these pants are called “scuba” pants. Appropriate for the weather just in case we floated away. I bought them at Saks actually on Fifth Avenue. It was our daytime activity since it was too rainy to walk around and just absorb New York. What a beautiful store and so many floors! Glad I live close by and can go back! The pictures were taken in one of the hallways at the Waldorf Astoria. The pictures behind me are of the Astoria and New York from many years ago.

Actually, I believe it’s quite politically correct. My shorts are faux leather and my coat is faux fur. The “Glasses Girl” hasn’t had so many opportunities to wear her beloved glasses lately so finally here’s a new pair of Oliver Peoples that I’ve been dying to show you. It’s been an incredibly grey and depressing winter here in the Northeast. I do however love this coat which is perfect for such weather. I get so many comments and compliments on it every time I wear it.
While I’m absolutely not a shorts person (short yes, shorts no), these got me. I’m not one to get excited about summer fashion at all let alone the prospect pants sans most of the legs — just not my thing. Wearing them in the winter over tights with boots — acceptable. I paired them with a funky perforated sweater and riding boots and kept the colour pallet in black and silver. I think the overall effect was actually quite chic!

Last weekend was a casino, food and drink whirlwind. The weather was so awful but thankfully you don’t really have to go outside. You can hop from casino to casino and never have a drop of rain touch your hair. I like that as I’m so not a fan of rain. We had dinner at Old Homestead Steakhouse in the Borgata on Saturday night which was a great recommendation from a friend. I guess I’m not the average girl. Give me a Scotch and a steak and I’m happy! The Borgata is a pretty casino and I couldn’t resist taking a picture of one of the amazing glass chandeliers.
Part of recovering from breast cancer involves taking a medication (for 10 years BTW) that is completely messing up my joints (among other stuff). I haven’t worn heels in quite a while because of it, but I’d had enough of that so I took a couple Advil and just went with it. Between the Advil, the Scotch and the wine I didn’t notice the discomfort. I feel so much more dressed when I have a little lift. I’m very short so I also usually just feel so small when I’m in public and most of the world is towering over me.
