What is it about ripped up jeans that’s so cool? I can’t stop wearing these. Not only are they cool, but they’re so comfortable! Perfect amount of stretch. I know Abercrombie & Fitch isn’t having the moment it did some time ago, but their jeans fit and they look good and they’re reasonable! The rest of the outfit? Free People on top — of course. I’m attempting to incorporate some colour into my spring wardrobe! And the adorable little booties with the fringe are by Ash. Love that brand. Cool styles and comfortable. Don’t forget your accessories people! They can really make an outfit and complete the vibe! Mirrored sunglasses in a complementary colour are a start. They always say not to overdo it on the jewellery. I get it, but don’t necessarily agree. If it works go for it! Layer your necklaces and pile on the bracelets. No worries!

Sorry Bro …

OOTD 083114

I think this outfit encompassed many blogger biggies. Feeling trendy today I guess! Mules (so can’t believe these are back, but they’re so comfy so I’m cool with it), boyfriend jeans, etc. It is so unbelievably hot and humid in New Jersey. Walking outside is like being in a sauna. I’m so ready for a cool, crisp fall day. I couldn’t possibly deal with an article of clothing that contained sleeves so I wore this awesome Free People camisole which is pretty much as close as you can get to being naked in public. I opted for my gap boyfriend jeans because the looser fit makes them more airy than skinny jeans that just pretty much adhere to you in temperatures like this. Let’s discuss the wide cuff — wide straps on the shoes = wide cuff, narrow straps = narrow cuff. Get it? It’s all about proportions. Funny thing is, my brother can’t stand, goes ballistic even, when he sees that wide cuff. I’m not sure why it annoys him so much, but he freaks! Sorry dude!

May Flowers

My mum was a kindergarten teacher. Of her many sayings, one was “April Showers Bring May Flowers”. I think that needs a revision — April showers bring May showers. At least a drought is not a possibility this year. The incessant rain did encourage these cool purple flowers to pop up in my garden though! I have no idea what they’re called — that’s mum’s job too. We also have a guest puppy today – Milo was visiting and keeping my Lubi company. As far as my outfit… I’m trying to embrace spring. The first time I put this top on my husband said — “It’s too light. It’s not you.” Huh… I guess my black wardrobe really is “who I am” though I’m trying really hard to incorporate some colour! How did I do?

Back In The Burbs

After a whirlwind weekend being back in the suburbs wasn’t such an awful thing. It never is really, but the city is just so exciting by comparison. My mum spotted this dress at Nordstrom and decided I had to have it. It has a laid-back French vibe with a little bit of festival season built in. This dress will definitely take me through a few seasons. Since it’s still chilly here I paired it with black leggings, cardigan and booties. Over the summer it will go wonderfully with flat sandals for day or wedges for night. I piled on some cool jewellery and an amazing pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses to complete the look. Voila!

Back In The Swing

Hi everyone! It’s been quite a while since my last post and I really need to get back in the swing of things. I’m doing well after my last surgery, but it seems like with each one I am more tired and take a little longer to bounce back to being myself. While I’m still not quite there I finally just said enough is enough… time to get back to my life. Outfits are tough at the moment. I’m confined to a sports bra which severely limits the tops you are able to wear and my left and right breast are two very different sizes. While this will slowly be rectified it does present some interesting challenges when getting dressed. Prints and scarves are my best friends at the moment. Hopefully if they’re distracting enough people won’t notice!

Stay tuned for some great product reviews and outfits coming soon to a computer near you!

OMJ!

That stands for Oh My, Jeans! It’s not often that I go “out” in jeans. I usually reserve them for daytime weekend wear. This Saturday, however, that changed. I finally found a pair of real blue jeans with a super fit and they are so comfortable and soft. Usually the normal jeans aren’t on sale. These ones are Joe’s and they were in fact on sale at Nordstrom this weekend. Mine! I had to hit the mall with all the amazing sales going on. I got this top too at Neiman Marcus on crazy sale. I’ve become a fan of Clover Canyon which is artsy and flowy and fun — right up my alley. We were enjoying a scotch before going out for supper and of course Lubi couldn’t resist getting in on the action. He’s just too cute to resist!

Borgata

Last weekend was a casino, food and drink whirlwind. The weather was so awful but thankfully you don’t really have to go outside. You can hop from casino to casino and never have a drop of rain touch your hair. I like that as I’m so not a fan of rain. We had dinner at Old Homestead Steakhouse in the Borgata on Saturday night which was a great recommendation from a friend. I guess I’m not the average girl. Give me a Scotch and a steak and I’m happy! The Borgata is a pretty casino and I couldn’t resist taking a picture of one of the amazing glass chandeliers.

Part of recovering from breast cancer involves taking a medication (for 10 years BTW) that is completely messing up my joints (among other stuff). I haven’t worn heels in quite a while because of it, but I’d had enough of that so I took a couple Advil and just went with it. Between the Advil, the Scotch and the wine I didn’t notice the discomfort. I feel so much more dressed when I have a little lift. I’m very short so I also usually just feel so small when I’m in public and most of the world is towering over me.
