That 70s Show

That 70s Show

I think I’ve had this jacket for a million years. It’s been safely tucked away in the back of the coat cupboard forever. Who would have thought that I’d be seeing ones just like it all over the place. Suede, suede and more suede in the fashion world at the moment so hey, suede booties with fringes too. The round sunnies just lent too well to the vibe not to go for it. I kept everything else pretty simple — black pants, white button down. As I sit here listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd I feel like I actually could have existed in the era. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Whatevs.

Shaggy Baby

I admit it. I totally coveted this sweater from the day I saw it at Free People. I watched it, visited it, knew I absolutely had to have it. However, I never spend full price on anything, especially when it’s that expensive. It’s just a sweater. I could wait. And wait I did. Finally — 50% off! Woohoo! Mine! Since the sweater itself is such a statement I chose funky, but all black to wear with it so as not to overpower its awesomeness. Like it?

Holiday Cas’

Not every night during holiday season calls for full blown cocktail attire. For dinner with friends I wanted something fun and holiday”ish” but we weren’t going anywhere fancy. Layers are key for me. Even when it’s chilly out I’m always way too hot when  I’m inside. While most of my outfit was in accordance with my standard black uniform, the top added shine and fun fringes. People make fun of us Northeasters for all of our black clothing, but there are so many pluses to the colour. Black is chic, slimming and elongating. When black pants are paired with black shoes or boots with one seamlessly fading into the other they trick the eye seeing long thin legs. Not so bad huh?

Back In Black

I’m back in black and biker boots! Woohoo! So have I told you I like fall? I haven’t had a new piece from All Saints in quite some time so when mum and dad arrived home from Scotland with this top I was psyched. I love their oversized flowy clothes. The woman in the store recommended to my mum that I wear it with coated jeans. Coated jeans are a wardrobe staple in my book. Of course the black are perhaps the chicest thing on the planet, but I own them in other colours too. I went all out today and wore my new studded biker boots too. I was so excited about the fall air that I dove right in. I feel like me! There’s no turning back now!

Fall Firsts

There’s that first cool, crisp day when you wake up to chilly morning air and know you’re going to pull your booties out for the first time of the season. For me, this is heaven. I love, love, love fall weather and boots and sweaters — the works. While I’m usually in black come September I took my first fall step in blue this year. I didn’t have a lot of chances to wear these boots as I got them at the end of last season so it was nice to pull them out again and I was super excited to pair them with this blouse. I got it on super sale at Lord & Taylor! The back of it is lace so it makes it more than just a button down. It’s oversize so paired with skinny pants or jeans it gives off a vibe that’s just so me. I wore something fitted to work once and people actually commented that it was out of character. Stay true my friends!

Boho

While I’m the furthest thing possible from a hippie, I do love a good boho chic outfit. Free people always makes the best flowy tops. I have to be careful not to buy too many! I paired my boho top with not so boho coated skinny jeans but did play up the vibe with some cool beaded jewellery and fringed booties. I like taking things to a new level, mixing and matching styles to make them my own. Creativity goes a long way and can make your outfit really stand out from the crowd.

Happy Blogiversary!

One year ago today I did my first WordPress blog post! I wasn’t sure what would come of all this, but if nothing else, it’s something I really enjoy and hope you do too. I want to thank all of you for reading and hanging out with me and my outfits. I’ve learned so much from reading other fabulous blogs and think I’ve grown as a blogger. I’ve made blogger friends from all across the world, even if I haven’t actually met them, though I hope to one day. This year has presented me with quite a few challenges, but here I am blogging away! Thank you all!

Here’s that very first post. Enjoy!

Dressed for a special dinner in honour of anniversaries in a nice restaurant located in an old Victorian house at the shore. Black Helmut Lang jeans, black and Parker sleeveless, open back top — both from Neiman Marcus. My jacket is from J Crew a while ago. See by Chloe sandals and Marc by Marc Jacobs bag both from Bloomingdales. Cheers!
