It never fails. Fall comes and I’m so excited about the change in weather and can’t wait to show you my fall outfits and then I remember how early it gets dark! Indoor pictures. So much more difficult! I love being able to wear fall colours and sweaters and boots though and I actually don’t even mind that it gets dark earlier. I like going out for supper after the sun sets. I know I’m weird. I’ve been told so a million times! It’s October so the breast cancer extensions are in — #survivor — and I’ve dyed the rest a deep purple though its hard to see in the pictures. It’s still quite warm here in the Northeast so I haven’t been able to break out the sweaters yet, but at least I’m in long flowing sleeves and long pants. Enjoy!
So, I’m really not a beauty blogger but this I have to share. When Maelove asked me to try their new product “The Sun Protector” I was excited and nervous. SPF on the face can be cruel. Breakouts, itchiness, etc. This product is a mineral based sunscreen (18% zinc) SPF 30 (non-nano) and is:
- Infused with antioxidants and doubles as a makeup primer
- Does not leave you greasy, flaky or with a white cast
- Made in America and developed in Silicon Valley
I have to tell you. It’s great. My skin didn’t break out, wasn’t itchy and surprise… my makeup stays so much better when I use it! Plus it’s very reasonably priced for a great skincare product. Use it all year long. I know we don’t think about SPF in the months other than summer but it’s so important!
Try it for yourself and let me know how you like it!
Slip dresses are a thing right now and I love it. They’re so silky and comfy. Like wearing your nightgown out on the town. The shimmery gold was just irresistible as was the strappy back. I’m still such a Free People fanatic! They technically call this a slip but I put a slip underneath so it wasn’t see through and voila — it’s a dress. I know the “naked dress” is all over right now but, um…. TMI. Add some cool shoes and accessories and there ya have it. Fun(ky) dinner outfit. And for someone I know who says cars are fashion, here you go. Enjoy!
Anyone noticed how much I love kimonos? Or anything BOHO chic? When One Tribe Apparel sent me this kimono I was psyched! First of all, their story is great. Second of all — kimono! They also donate part of their proceeds to help the Elephant Nature Park. How cool is that? Besides all the above, the kimono is so pretty. The vibrant colours and peacock pattern on mine even dressed up jeans enough for me to wear them to work! I love peacocks! I would wear this over a bathing suit or to give a pop to a simple tee or slip dress too. I’m tellin’ ya, these things come in handy. Stop on over to One Tribe Apparel and check out all the amazing things they have besides kimonos too!
Jeans and a tee. Basic right? But there are so many different iterations! Jeans — blue, white, black? Tee — the possibilities are endless. I always find myself trying to be that graphic tee person and I never think it looks right. I do love a good v-neck though. Finding a good t-shirt doesn’t mean spending a lot of money. Latest plain tee obsession? Target! Mossimo v-neck at 3 for $20 is a total no brainer. They wash well and they’re super soft. Can’t beat it. For evening it’s so easy to take something as easy as this, throw on a kimono, change from sneakers to shoes (or not) and off you go. Elevate basic! Oh… Lubi found a friend on our pre-supper walk. How cute are they?
So this top made me feel part ballerina, part Madonna circa 1980 something. Either way — so much fun! I styled it with uneven hem, ripped knee jeans. Both are trends that are very on point (pun kind of intended) and somehow work together perfectly. Mixing too many trends in one outfit can completely backfire. You never want to look like you’re trying too hard to accomplish it all at once and trends should only be considered if they actually work for you. Trying to pull off a trend that’s out of your comfort zone will just leave you with buyer’s remorse as you gaze at a closet full of “why did I buy this?” items. It’s better to leave the house feeling confident than in an outfit that makes you self-conscious and fidgety. For me it’s edgy BOHO. (Closet full of Free People anyone?) Skinny bottoms and oversized tops are basics in my world styled in different ways to fit the mood or occasion. People ask me why I don’t show off how small I am with form-fitting clothes. The answer? It’s just not me. What are your go to outfits?
Remember the Puffy Shirt episode? Of course you do! With statement sleeves and ruffles being all the rage it pops into my head all too often. Hope I pulled it off better than Seinfeld!
I found this blouse on super sale at Anthropologie last week. It’s so airy that even inside for dinner I wasn’t crazy hot. Phew. I usually am. I briefly toyed with the idea of not wearing a tank top underneath. Think I could pull it off? I’m a wimp sometimes when it comes to showing too much skin. Not sure why. Pairing something so feminine and flirty with ripped up jeans is so much fun. There’s something about that combo that has always appealed to me. I’m not into fussy prim and proper. I like a little edginess to my outfits. BTW… you’ll be seeing these shoes a lot. They’re trendy and pretty and so comfortable! Oh… we just planted our garden. Nice huh?
