Hi Fall!

Fall is my favourite. Brisk temperatures (hopefully), colourful leaves, and best of all amazing fashion on the way. There’s nothing better than a chunky sweater on a cool fall day layered over anything. We’re not there yet, but as soon as fall hits my colour palette changes back to black and jewel tones. Yeah! Statement jeans are a must these days and these called to me from a sale rack at Anthropologie. The blouse isn’t new (the horror) but it’s one of my favourites from the colours to the sleeves and it goes so perfectly with the Gucci drivers. Can’t wait for the thermometer to tell me to wear a pair of boots! Enjoy!

One Tribe Apparel

Anyone noticed how much I love kimonos? Or anything BOHO chic? When One Tribe Apparel sent me this kimono I was psyched! First of all, their story is great. Second of all — kimono! They also donate part of their proceeds to help the Elephant Nature Park. How cool is that? Besides all the above, the kimono is so pretty. The vibrant colours and peacock pattern on mine even dressed up jeans enough for me to wear them to work! I love peacocks! I would wear this over a bathing suit or to give a pop to a simple tee or slip dress too. I’m tellin’ ya, these things come in handy. Stop on over to One Tribe Apparel and check out all the amazing things they have besides kimonos too!

Pole Dancing

So this top made me feel part ballerina, part Madonna circa 1980 something. Either way — so much fun! I styled it with uneven hem, ripped knee jeans. Both are trends that are very on point (pun kind of intended) and somehow work together perfectly. Mixing too many trends in one outfit can completely backfire. You never want to look like you’re trying too hard to accomplish it all at once and trends should only be considered if they actually work for you. Trying to pull off a trend that’s out of your comfort zone will just leave you with buyer’s remorse as you gaze at a closet full of “why did I buy this?” items. It’s better to leave the house feeling confident than in an outfit that makes you self-conscious and fidgety. For me it’s edgy BOHO. (Closet full of Free People anyone?) Skinny bottoms and oversized tops are basics in my world styled in different ways to fit the mood or occasion. People ask me why I don’t show off how small I am with form-fitting clothes. The answer? It’s just not me. What are your go to outfits?

Not Yet

So the calendar says spring. The thermometer says otherwise. Until the two reach an agreement I’m sticking with my boots and sweaters. I’m one of the few people who actually doesn’t look forward to spring and warm weather. Boots, sweaters, faux fur coats, scarves, layers — these are a few of my favourite things. Sorry everyone but I’m holding out as long as I can. I added the smallest touch of the new season with this amazing flower necklace my mum and dad brought back from France. Otherwise, in true Northeast spirit I’m in all black. All black doesn’t have to be boring if you mix up textures and prints as I did here with knits, lace and leather. The slightly edgier over-the-knee boots with my otherwise boho outfit added a little twist. Enjoy!
