Anyone noticed how much I love kimonos? Or anything BOHO chic? When One Tribe Apparel sent me this kimono I was psyched! First of all, their story is great. Second of all — kimono! They also donate part of their proceeds to help the Elephant Nature Park. How cool is that? Besides all the above, the kimono is so pretty. The vibrant colours and peacock pattern on mine even dressed up jeans enough for me to wear them to work! I love peacocks! I would wear this over a bathing suit or to give a pop to a simple tee or slip dress too. I’m tellin’ ya, these things come in handy. Stop on over to One Tribe Apparel and check out all the amazing things they have besides kimonos too!

I can’t tell you how excited I was when I received an invite to the “Fall For Free People” event at Bloomingdale’s in Bridgewater this past weekend. Free People and Bloomingdale’s — these are a few of my favourite things! It was also a Fashionable Fundraiser which was in support of amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research. Shopping for a good cause is always a good thing and Bloomingdale’s pledges to make a donation of $75,000 to amfAR as part of the event. There was so much going on from refreshments, to a sketch artist who was drawing amazing fashion sketches of the shoppers and of course I was assisted by my favourite Bloomingdale’s stylist ever. He’s amazing and is always there as my partner in shopping crime! It was so much fun to meet all the great people from Bloomingdale’s and have the opportunity to blog the event. Coincidentally this past Sunday was three years from when I had my mastectomy (hence the pink outfit) so being able to be there and have fun was awesome. Even Lubi got in on the action! Thanks Bloomies!

You know it’s summer when I step out in white jeans. OK. I’m old school. I cannot wear white pants or shoes before Memorial Day. Everyone says it’s a fashion rule to be broken. I disagree. That said once Memorial Day does hit I can’t stop rocking the white jeans. I have “nice” ones that are work appropriate and destroyed ones that are weekend appropriate. The key to white jeans? Don’t pair them with anything that will make you look like a nurse! Unless you are one of course. Here I paired my first foray with a breezy Free People dress and my new rose gold Birkenstock sandals. Love them! Oh… you know those sunglasses with flat lenses that are so hot now? Check out these Kate Spade!

I’ve been dying to go to Balthazar Restaurant in SOHO for sooooo long. Finally the hubby and I went for our anniversary. It’s so quintessentially French. If I hadn’t driven there I would have thought I was actually in Paris. It reminded us so much of places we’ve eaten in there. Loved it! If you’re in New York it’s a must!
Anyhoo… NYC outfits are so much fun to come up with. Sophisticated, trendy, edgy. Anything goes. While you can go to almost any restaurant in jeans I like to get a little more creative when I venture in. You would think that living such a short distance from the City we would go more often but it doesn’t happen so much. You can never go wrong with black leather anything. I had kind of envisioned a slip dress over the pants, but I just couldn’t find the perfect one. This tunic, however, jumped out and said “Buy me!”. I adore the blush colour and it added some lightness and femininity to the outfit. Have I ever told you how much I’m obsessed with scarves? They’re taking over the coat cupboard but I can’t help it. It’s that 3rd piece you add to your outfit for ladylike completion and there’s just so much variety and so many ways to wear them! Not sure how many more times this year I’ll get to wear my favourite Prada ankle boots. So sad!

What is it about ripped up jeans that’s so cool? I can’t stop wearing these. Not only are they cool, but they’re so comfortable! Perfect amount of stretch. I know Abercrombie & Fitch isn’t having the moment it did some time ago, but their jeans fit and they look good and they’re reasonable! The rest of the outfit? Free People on top — of course. I’m attempting to incorporate some colour into my spring wardrobe! And the adorable little booties with the fringe are by Ash. Love that brand. Cool styles and comfortable. Don’t forget your accessories people! They can really make an outfit and complete the vibe! Mirrored sunglasses in a complementary colour are a start. They always say not to overdo it on the jewellery. I get it, but don’t necessarily agree. If it works go for it! Layer your necklaces and pile on the bracelets. No worries!
Wrap – Great Option!
I guess I just haven’t been in the mood lately. Haven’t been able to motivate myself. Sometimes it’s just too much pressure to get up every day and be “blogworthy”. It’s hard feeling like you can never repeat an outfit or feeling like you have to look great every single day. Of course you have to get up and put on something but sometimes you just look in the mirror and don’t feel it. Hence, #bloggerburnout. Alas, I miss all of you and I miss posting my outfits. It took a hiatus to realise this! Therefore I will be back at you with outfits galore. I hope! Since spring hasn’t actually sprung here in the northeast this outfit embraces some springier items while still being 50 degree farenheit temperature appropriate. Over-the-knee boots can still be springy if they’re the right material and colour and are worn with maybe something floral or light. First time embracing the “cold shoulder” look. You like?
(Similar – mine are so old!)
Or shall we call it my signature style? Dress in what feels right and makes you feel good. Embrace your style and work with it. Make it yours. I’m going to call my style edgy boho. Probably not really a thing but it combines my love for flowy and black everything. A syndrome created by living in the Northeast section of the country. Black, black and more black. Extra points if it’s leather, faux or real. I’m completely obsessed with these Free People trapeze slips. I have them in a variety of different colours – not only black. Dress ‘em up. Dress ‘em down. In the summer you can wear them alone and in the winter you can throw a sweater or thermal over them and voila… instant outfit!
