Just Jeans and a Tank

Just Jeans and a Tank

That “blogworthy” word came up when we were going out to take pictures today. My favourite stylist at the Free People store liked it and told me to definitely blog this one so here it is! The tank is, of course, Free People and the jeans are old distressed boyfriend jeans that seemed to stand the test of time. So simple yet put together. Pairings can turn jeans and a tank into an outfit. The fancy racerback bralette that shows in the back, a belt, animal print Betula sandals and jewellery which is always key to adding interest to simplicity.

Simple Sunday

Simple Sunday

Working on Sundays. Not the best. Gotta do what ya gotta do. It’s really hard to get up early and motivate yourself to get dressed, put on makeup and do your hair after a Saturday night out, but you also can’t go to work looking like a mess. I went with soft neutral tones and punched it up a little with a fun animal print tank.

I’m so addicted to these Painted Threads cardigans! This one is made out of super soft t-shirt material. You can find them in the BP department at Nordstrom. They’re very reasonable and come in tons of colours. You should check them out! Had I realized that it was going to start snowing before I went home I probably would have gone with something other than suede boots! Oh well — too late!

Thanksgiving this year was a small family gathering that was also combined with Chanukah. That’s something that won’t happen again for tens of thousands of years. I included some pictures of the holiday table that my mum made look so nice for the combined occasion. Half the family was away and my poor hubby came down with what we now know is strep. Hopefully in 24 hours he’ll feel much better. I need him to take my blog pics! Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that calls for cozy dressing as opposed to a fussy LBD or something of that sort. Anything containing lycra is also a good idea since you’ll probably be feasting on many things! Also combining it with Chanukah you want to be able to hang with the kids. I threw on my favourite boyfriend jeans, a cute top and a sweater and boots and called it an outfit. The top is a pink and black snake print with leather yoke detail. How many trends can you put in one top? Love it! It was actually quite chilly so I got to wear my faux fur coat too. I picked it up at the Neiman’s outlet last winter and I get sooooo many compliments on it.

And The Festivities Continue

And The Festivities Continue

I mean, after all, you can’t just celebrate for one evening can you? This outfit was for a special steak dinner in the town where I previously lived. While it’s a rather conservative town overall, I’m not so I went with a mix. The blouse is conservative just because it’s a blouse, but the two layers and animal print and flowing sleeves turned it up a notch. Instead of plain black pants I went with these Rag & Bone that have leather stitches on the bottom. The shoes; well… they are really amazing but they are truly what I refer to as “dinner shoes”. That’s pretty much all you can do in them. Sit and eat dinner.  Walk to the car? Um…. no! Like my new Troll Bead bracelet? I’ll have to get details of each bead. It was a birthday gift from mum and dad. I can’t wait to go choose more! Lubi is wearing an adorable little number by Martha Stewart for PetSmart. Enjoy!

I’m Back Baby!

I’m Back Baby!

Hi everyone! It’s been so long since my last post. I’m so sorry for my absence. For those of you who missed it, or are just joining me, my last post explained that I had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction because I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The good news… I’m clean! The cancer is out and I’m going to be fine. After many complications and a second surgery, I am left for now with one temporary implant and one prosthesis. I still have a couple surgeries ahead of me, but in the long run I’ll be healthy. For now, let’s concentrate on the outfit challenges that I am facing.

I’m confined to a sports type bra to hold everything where it needs to be. Sexy? No! I have found that the Genie Bra is the most comfortable thing I can find at the moment. You step into it as opposed to having to lift your arms and pull it over your head. After these surgeries it is impossible for quite some time to lift your arms up over your head. This causes issues with the types of tops one can wear too. Either the neckline has to be loose enough to step into or your top has to button or zipper somewhere.

This top zippers up the back. I kind of need help getting out of it, but at least it is possible and I’m finding ways to look as cute as I can! I love the animal print and the cobalt accents too!

Me in Monochrome

Yet again, black and white. At least the rain stopped for long enough to pop out and take some pictures! And the sun peeked out just long enough to wear these amazing sunglasses. So French no?

I’m so excited for fall. I’m getting out the booties and incorporating them whenever I can. This is a new Dolce Vita pair with nice silver accents on the toe and heel. At a first glance this is a cool pair of animal print coated jeans. Guess what? Flip them inside out and they’re coated black jeans. Great for travelling! Bluelab does a whole line of reversible jeans. Check them out! BTW… I can’t wait to get my bangs trimmed!

A Glimmer of Light

A Glimmer of Light

Such a beautiful sunny day. The gold in my outfit representing the golden glimmer of the sun. We managed to hit the light perfectly and I was having a good hair day! My salon, Sparks Hair Design is amazing. I always come out with the perfect cut and my GK Keratin Treatment makes my hair so easy to deal with! They’re the best!

I played up the gold accents on my animal print jeans with a shimmery black and gold top, and black and gold accessories like my earrings, bracelets, sunglasses and shoes. Lubi also looks exceptionally dashing today doesn’t he?
