She’s Crafty

When a mutual friend showed me this jewellery on Facebook I immediately pulled out my phone to follow. The Crafty Optician makes jewellery and accessories revolving around eyewear and the optical profession. Love that it encompasses two of my favourite things — jewellery and eyewear. Coleen was kind enough to send me three pieces to try out and for the post I chose the necklace and the stud earrings. Studs are key when you’re wearing winter attire. They don’t get stuck in your sweater and scarf! I wore these to work and everyone thought they were fabulous. They’re are adorable and well made and I’ve been wearing them non stop ever since I got them!

In this post I paired my new jewels with my favourite new boots and sweater. Go to winter look — jeans, boots, a big cozy sweater and a huge wrap scarf. It’s so warm and soft on those cold New Jersey days. Enjoy!

In The Bag

I recently found the Rue La La Handbag Style Guide. I love Rue La La for great shopping deals, but I didn’t know they had this cool blog too! There is a section about the history of handbags. So cool to see how they’ve evolved. There’s also a handy dandy little guide that tells you how to make sure your designer bag is real. I was inspired to share my favourite purses and let you know a little bit about what I absolutely must carry inside them.

Being a typical fashionista I love my purses. While I admit that most of the time I use one, I love to change it up when I’m going out and getting dressed up. My go to at the moment? A satchel by See by Chloe. I originally got this bag because not only is it beautiful and luxurious, it’s lightweight and has the option to be carried by the top handles or by the detachable shoulder strap. Lightweight is key for me. After multiple surgeries following my breast cancer diagnosis I just couldn’t carry a heavy bag anymore. The pink colour, however, is purely coincidental. I just like pink!

See By Chloe Bag

I’m kind of a “kitchen sink”  person when it comes to my purse. I like to be prepared. What can I say? And my method of organization is more of a lack thereof except that I prefer bags that have two small, easily accessible pockets on the inside — one for my glasses and one for my phone. I’m also a fan of the inside zipper pocket for lip gloss, a pen and all those department store cards that don’t fit in my wallet. Don’t judge. Everything else is a free for all. Must work on that!

Now, when it comes time to go out or dress up for an event the purse definitely changes to go with the outfit, the type of event, or maybe just my mood. I tend to go with smaller bags for evening or semi/formal events. Perhaps a clutch or baguette (you can learn about these in the handbag guide too!). You can have a lot of fun choosing bags on a per evening basis and they can totally make your outfit! I often borrow them from my mum who has a nice collection. These are a couple few of my faves…

The Lens Friend – A Product Review

I was recently approached by a company called The Lens Friend to review a new product. Being that I am The Glasses Girl and I sell glasses for a living I fell in love with this cute little thing! It’s a magnetic device that you can hook around almost anything and hang your glasses from it safely and securely so that you don’t lose them. It fits all different temple widths too. Hook it over your shirt pocket and hang your glasses so they don’t fall out when you bend over. We all know putting your sunglasses on your head is cute, but it stretches them out! Hook it around your purse handle and voila — a place to hang your sunglasses! I now use this everyday at work, when I’m out, everywhere! You can use it in 3 different directions depending on what you are attaching it to. Check out my favourite ways to style it below and visit the website to get one for yourself! They come in super fun colours too!
