This past weekend I attended Vision Expo East in New York. It’s a huge trade show for everyone in the vision field. I go each year to check out all the new fabulous frames. I literally had not left the state since last August when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was my first weekend out of New Jersey in a very long time — and I only live 45 minutes from New York City! As a special treat we stayed at the Waldorf Astoria. The art deco decor is unbelievable. Even the elevator doors are beautiful. We felt so fancy! There was actually a little note in the reservation confirmation asking us to respect the formal dress code in public areas after six o’clock in the evening. Of course not everyone was in formal attire, but there were many people dressed up for some very special events in amazing ball gowns.
The first night of our stay we were invited to attend a dinner with Smoke and Mirrors, the company who provided me with the sunglasses from my previous post. The event was held at Tao Downtown which is a high end Asian restaurant and club with a very cool subterranean, multi level design. It’s funky and loud and bustling so my outfit reflected the vibe with just a little bit of fanciness — my first pair of red bottoms. We were super pressed for time. New York City traffic was not kind to us, nor was the weather, so I don’t have as many pictures as I would like and it’s difficult to tell that my vest is actually navy on an otherwise all black ensemble. I may have to wear this again! In any case, enjoy. Oh, and yes, Lubi got to stay at the Waldorf too!
